Karachi: (RightNow) Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah states that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s statement should not be given much importance. Speaking to the media after addressing the Mining Technical Conference in Karachi, he mentioned that the procedure for creating provinces is outlined in the constitution.

At the conference, Murad Ali Shah highlighted that this event is the first and most significant in Pakistan’s history, bringing together industry, academia, and technology pillars. He further stated that the conference aims to learn from global best practices and introduce innovation.

The Chief Minister emphasized that Pakistan is rich in mineral wealth, but its potential is not yet fully realized. Investment, technology, and a better policy environment are essential for improving the mineral sector.

Murad Ali Shah noted that a modern mining framework under a public-private partnership was introduced in 2008, under which two major Thar Coal blocks are currently producing 2,640 megawatts of electricity.

It is noteworthy that Thar blocks produce over 15 million tons of coal annually, saving the country $1.5 billion each year.
