Swat: (RightNow) A suicide blast near the Kabal police station in Swat has resulted in the deaths of 9 individuals and injured several others. DIG Malakand reported that the attacker attempted to enter the police station but was stopped by officers.

According to Rescue 1122, 9 fatalities have been confirmed at Saidu Sharif Hospital. There is a fear of more casualties, and a head found at the blast site is suspected to belong to the suicide bomber.

Police stated that the explosion occurred during a protest at Kabal Chowk. The area has been cordoned off, and evidence is being collected. The injured have been transported to various hospitals.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the attack. He praised the sacrifices of police officers, paid tribute to the martyred personnel, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.

It is noteworthy that Swat police and district administration had issued a warning about the protest being illegal. The public was advised against participation as no NOC was issued.
