Islamabad: (RightNow) Islamabad’s District and Sessions Court has ruled in favor of Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal in a defamation case. Additional Sessions Judge Hakim Khan ordered Murad Saeed to pay Rs 2.5 million in damages.

According to the court’s decision, Murad Saeed must pay Rs 2.5 million for damaging Ahsan Iqbal’s reputation. The corruption allegations of Rs 70 billion against Murad Saeed were not proven, and the accusations against Ahsan Iqbal were deemed defamatory.

The decision stated that Ahsan Iqbal had claimed Rs 10 billion in damages, which was excessive based on the evidence. Murad Saeed’s controversial statement negatively impacted Ahsan Iqbal’s reputation, creating a negative public perception.

The court order highlighted that the allegations were a direct attack on Ahsan Iqbal’s integrity, character, and reputation. Murad Saeed neither appeared in court nor presented any evidence.

It is noteworthy that Murad Saeed accused Ahsan Iqbal of corruption in the Multan-Sukkur Motorway project in 2019.
