Islamabad: (RightNow) LNG prices have reached a historic high. According to a notification from OGRA, prices increased by $6.45 per MMBTU in July.

On the Sui Northern system, LNG is priced at $25.83 per MMBTU, while on the Sui Southern system, it is $25.8. LNG cargo from Qatar is cheaper than the spot market, priced at 13.37% of Brent.

Due to the tense situation in the Middle East, Pakistan had to purchase 5 expensive LNG cargos in July. This led to a significant price increase compared to June.

This increase could pose challenges for Pakistani consumers, as rising energy prices will affect both domestic and industrial users.

It is important to note that Pakistan has previously faced criticism for purchasing expensive LNG cargos from the global market.
