Chakri: (RightNow) Motorway Police thwarted an attempt to smuggle non-custom paid cigarettes worth Rs 22 crore. The operation was conducted near Chakri based on a tip-off, resulting in the seizure of cigarettes from 11 trucks.

According to officials, the smuggled cigarettes were being transported from Peshawar to Lahore. Timely action led to the arrest of 11 drivers and the confiscation of the trucks.

A spokesperson stated that the seized cigarettes are valued at approximately Rs 22 crore. The Motorway Police have handed over the cigarettes and suspects to customs authorities.
