Rawalpindi: (RightNow) Law enforcement agencies thwarted an attempt to smuggle explosives in Rawalpindi, arresting a suspect. The vehicle used was also seized.

According to a police spokesperson, the operation was conducted in the jurisdiction of New Airport Police Station. The arrested suspect, Muhammad Saleem, is reported to be from Abbottabad. During the vehicle search, 22 kilograms of explosives were recovered.

The seized materials include 180 explosive bars, 490 non-electric detonators, and 1,000 meters of wire. The suspect and the recovered explosives have been transferred to New Airport Police Station.

Sources indicate that efforts are underway to gather information from the suspect regarding the delivery of explosives, potential buyers, and the network involved.

It is noteworthy that in recent months, several incidents of explosive smuggling have been reported in Pakistan, which law enforcement agencies have successfully thwarted.
