Pakistan received over $16 billion in foreign loans, with Saudi Arabia providing $3 billion in deposits and deferred oil.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Pakistan received over $16 billion in foreign loans last fiscal year. Saudi Arabia provided the largest financial assistance.
According to the Economic Affairs Division documents, Pakistan received financial assistance equivalent to 4,517 billion rupees. The annual target of $19.92 billion was not met. Pakistan fell short by $3.72 billion in financing.
In June 2026, Pakistan secured over $4 billion in loans. International financial institutions provided more than $5 billion in total financing.
Saudi Arabia offered $3 billion in new deposits, a $1 billion loan, and $1 billion in deferred oil payments. Other countries, including China, lent $1.35 billion.
It is noteworthy that the World Bank provided Pakistan with over $1.5 billion in loans, and the Asian Development Bank offered $1.77 billion. A British bank gave a $200 million commercial loan.
