Ankara: (Right Now News) A significant two-day NATO summit has commenced in Ankara. During the meeting, US President Donald Trump urged NATO countries to increase their military spending. European nations may announce new military deals worth billions.

NATO countries have decided to allocate five percent of their total income to military and security expenses. Of this, three and a half percent will be dedicated to military forces, and one and a half percent to other security needs.

Leaders from all 32 NATO countries are attending the summit. Presidents of Ukraine and South Korea are also present, although they are not NATO members. Additionally, ministers from Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and Gulf countries are participating.

It is notable that President Trump has questioned NATO’s effectiveness and criticized Germany’s defense budget as ridiculous. Trump has also announced the withdrawal of American warplanes from NATO countries.

It should be remembered that Ukraine is not a NATO member, but following Russian attacks, Ukraine is requesting the American Patriot air defense system. This meeting holds political significance despite internal NATO disagreements.
