Bolivia: (RightNow) A new species of wild cat has been discovered in Bolivia’s cloud forest. Known as ‘Tilkayo,’ this cat is found in most parts of South America.

Researchers report that the Tilkayo measures 46 centimeters in length and weighs 1.4 kilograms. These cats have light brown fur with irregular spots.

National Geographic experts recently classified it as a new species based on genetic data. They note that information about this cat is limited.

The cat is mostly active at night and may feed on small rodents, as suggested by camera trap evidence.

It is important to note that deforestation, agricultural expansion, and mining pose threats to the Yungas forests. This discovery highlights significant genetic differences.
