Lahore: (RightNow) A nationwide anti-polio campaign has commenced today across 115 districts. The campaign aims to ensure the provision of vaccines to protect children from polio.

According to the National EOC (Emergency Operations Center), more than 31 million children under the age of 5 will receive polio drops. The campaign involves over 273,000 polio workers.

In Punjab, 13 districts will see 10.6 million children vaccinated, while 10 million children in 30 districts of Sindh and 7.3 million in 37 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will receive the polio vaccine.

The National EOC states that in Balochistan’s 32 districts, 2.3 million children will be vaccinated, and in Islamabad, 447,000 children will receive the vaccine. Additionally, 137,000 children in 2 districts of Gilgit-Baltistan will be vaccinated.

It is noteworthy that the polio campaign aims to make the country polio-free, and it is conducted annually to protect children from this debilitating disease.
