New Delhi: (RightNow). Over 100 scientists from India’s state-run space agency ISRO have joined private companies. This situation has caused concern among the agency’s employees and scientists.

According to BBC, scientists from ISRO’s Bangalore and Thiruvananthapuram centers are moving to private space companies. Hyderabad-based company Skyroot Aerospace has launched a satellite into space with its rocket.

The head of the space sector regulatory body, IN-SPACe, stated that ISRO’s significance will not diminish. Private companies will develop commercial rockets and satellites, while ISRO will focus on research.

ISRO employees have raised questions about the agency’s operational role as activities shift to the private sector. The agency’s head assured that ISRO’s role in major space projects will remain intact.

It is noteworthy that after the 2020 space policy, the number of private space companies in India has increased. Experts say this could pose a challenge to India’s space industry.
