Tehran: (RightNow) Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on new maritime routes in the Strait of Hormuz. The new route will be entirely within Iran’s territorial waters.

According to Iranian media, Gulf countries will be briefed on these new arrangements on Monday. The agreement was finalized after negotiations between Iran and Oman, with part of the route passing through Iranian waters.

The new maritime route will be operated under Iranian management. Once operational, the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz will be closed.

This agreement is part of efforts to ensure the security of maritime routes in the region. It will facilitate trade for Gulf countries.

It is noteworthy that the Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important maritime passages, through which global oil supplies are transported.
