Peshawar: (RightNow) Over 200 Afghan medical students have been identified in Pakistan. Only 22 are registered with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).

According to PMDC, out of the 22 registered students, 14 have completed their degrees. The remaining 8 are set to graduate next year. Verification and assessment of the other 176 students are ongoing.

There are no nationality-based restrictions on medical education for foreign students. However, educational, registration, documentation, and immigration requirements are mandatory.

Completing a medical degree does not grant the right to stay or practice medicine in Pakistan. Foreign graduates must complete licensing and registration.

It is important to note that affected students are being facilitated in legal proceedings. Educational standards and patient safety will not be compromised.
