New Delhi: (RightNow) A five-story private hostel building collapsed in India’s capital, killing at least 7 students. Authorities fear several individuals are trapped under the debris.
Indian officials report that rescue operations are underway in South Delhi. So far, 11 people have been rescued from the rubble. Authorities estimate that approximately 30 to 50 students might still be trapped.
Preliminary investigations reveal water accumulation in the building’s basement, with ongoing repair work. Investigations continue to determine the exact cause of the collapse.
CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced on social media, showing people running to safety as the building suddenly collapses.
Rescue teams are using heavy machinery to search for more individuals. Reports indicate that several people, including students, were inside the building.
