BJP uses memes and cartoons to connect with Gen-Z voters on social media.
New Delhi: (RightNow) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has started using memes and cartoon characters on social media to increase its reach among the Gen-Z population. This campaign includes images and videos of popular characters like Spiderman and Motu Patlu, paired with political messages.
This strategy by the BJP is seen as an effort to establish a strong connection with young voters. The youth form a significant part of India’s population, making them an important group for political parties.
An important element of the Modi government’s social media shift is the use of vertical videos to target young audiences. Deepak Maheske, the new head of BJP’s social media department, has prioritized Instagram.
It is noteworthy that besides BJP, Congress is also focusing on the youth. Rahul Gandhi has organized events titled ‘Chhatron Ki Goon’ to reach out to students.
Remember, nearly a quarter of India’s population belongs to Generation Z, making them a crucial voter group and a medium for spreading narratives on social media.
