Electricity prices may increase from December to February due to fuel price adjustment rising 2 to 3 times.
Islamabad: (RightNow) December, January, and February could be challenging months for electricity consumers. Sources indicate a potential increase in electricity prices during these months.
Power Division sources reveal that fuel price adjustment may rise 2 to 3 times during this period. The increase is attributed to rising fuel costs, which are driving up electricity production expenses.
It is further reported that the prices of LNG, coal, and other fuels are making electricity production more expensive. A shortage of local gas in winter will also be a significant issue.
High global fuel prices are contributing to the increase in fuel price adjustment. Load management efforts were made in recent months to reduce the burden.
It is important to note that low hydropower production in winter necessitates the use of expensive fuels. This situation could place an additional burden on consumers with increased electricity prices.
