Islamabad: (RightNow). The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has initiated the process of blocking WhatsApp accounts linked to inactive mobile SIMs. This measure aims to prevent potential misuse and unauthorized access. Users are advised to keep their accounts linked to active numbers.

PTA officials have stated that this action follows an awareness campaign for users. Users were previously warned to connect their accounts to active numbers to avoid access issues.

The authority clarified that inactive or canceled numbers may be reassigned to others. This poses a risk of WhatsApp account misuse.

For instance, if someone abandons their number and it is given to another person, account security could be compromised. PTA advises users to review the current status of their numbers.

It is important to note that PTA has advised users to verify their SIMs. If a number is deactivated, users should transfer their account to an active number.
