The National Cyber Emergency Response Team issues a high alert for potential cyber attacks via WhatsApp Web and Desktop.
Islamabad: (RightNow) The National Cyber Emergency Response Team has issued a high alert for potential cyber attacks via WhatsApp Web, Desktop, and email. Government officials and individuals with sensitive information are advised to exercise special caution.
WhatsApp accounts are easy targets for hackers. Simple precautions can secure personal data. Negligence can lead to major issues.
According to the advisory, attackers are impersonating government officials to send malicious files. These files can grant remote control of computers and lead to data theft.
The advisory warns that WhatsApp Web sessions can be hijacked for fraud. The appearance of unknown devices in linked devices indicates a threat.
It should be noted that the National Cyber Emergency Response had previously advised against logging into WhatsApp on public devices and recommended ending unnecessary sessions.
