Lahore: (RightNow) WhatsApp has launched a new feature to protect users from fraud. This feature will provide additional alerts for potential scam messages.

The feature, called Scam Alert, was reported in June 2026. Currently, it is available in the Android beta version. According to WABetaInfo, this feature will alert users about messages from unknown contacts.

WhatsApp’s feature will not automatically intervene but will analyze potential threats. Users will decide whether to block messages or not.

It is important to note that this feature will not be enabled by default. Users need to enable it in WhatsApp settings. Machine learning is used in this feature to analyze scam messages.

WhatsApp is also using such technology for the voice message transcription feature. It is still in beta, and the full release date has not been announced.
