Mako A Na: (RightNow) Renowned Urdu poet Ahmed Faraz is remembered 18 years after his passing. Literary circles nationwide are holding tribute events to honor his contributions.

Ahmed Faraz passed away on August 25, 2008. Born on January 14, 1931, in Peshawar, he wrote his first poetry collection, ‘Tanha Tanha,’ during his studies. His other famous works include ‘Dard Ashob,’ ‘Nayaft,’ and ‘Janan Janan.’

Faraz received various national and international awards. He famously returned the Hilal-e-Imtiaz in protest during President Pervez Musharraf’s tenure. His poetry has been translated into multiple languages.

Faraz suffered from kidney disease and sought treatment in the USA. However, he passed away on August 25, 2008, in an Islamabad hospital.
