Buenos Aires: (RightNow) Argentina’s Leandro Paredes has been suspended for 10 matches following an incident in the 2026 World Cup final against Spain. His teammate Nahuel Molina faces a 7-match ban.

FIFA has also fined both players $90,000 each. The situation escalated after Paredes pushed Spain’s Gavi post-final.

According to FIFA, Paredes faced three charges, while Molina faced two. Other players and Argentina’s assistant coach have also been penalized.

The incident gained significance due to Argentina’s team behavior and discriminatory chants from fans. The team has been fined a total of $321,000 for these violations.

It is noteworthy that Argentina displayed a controversial banner against England in the semi-final, which FIFA deemed a breach of conduct.
