Mumbai: (RightNow) Indian police have arrested renowned film director Shakil Noorani for allegedly assaulting a 33-year-old actress. Noorani is known for directing films like ‘Bade Dilwala’ and ‘Joru Ka Ghulam’.

According to reports, the actress informed the police that Noorani allegedly drugged and assaulted her at his home in 2016 under the pretense of work.

Police took action by detaining Noorani on August 8 and he has been sent to remand until August 12. Further investigation is ongoing.

It is important to note that Noorani is accused of blackmailing the actress with inappropriate videos and exploiting her for six years.

The director’s lawyer has denied the allegations, claiming that a false case has been filed against his client. Investigations continue.
