Islamabad: (RightNow) Nepra has approved a 75 paisa per unit increase in electricity rates under June’s monthly fuel adjustment. This hike will apply to all consumers across the country, including K-Electric. The additional charges will be reflected in the August electricity bills.

According to Nepra, the actual fuel charges for June 2026 were Rs 8.4641 per unit, while the reference fuel charges were Rs 7.7138 per unit, leading to this increase. The Central Power Purchasing Agency had requested a Rs 1.20 per unit hike.

Nepra conducted a hearing on the request, reserved the decision, and issued a notification after data verification. The notification states that lifeline consumers, prepaid consumers, and electric vehicle charging stations are exempt from this increase.

This additional burden will raise the monthly electricity bills for regular consumers, potentially increasing their financial difficulties.

It is noteworthy that a similar fuel adjustment increase was announced last month, impacting consumers.
