Moscow: (RightNow) Russia’s advanced passenger aircraft MC-21 has completed its first successful test flight. United Aircraft Corporation confirms this achievement.

This test flight occurred a few days after Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the factory in Siberia. The President was briefed on the aircraft’s production and test flight preparations.

According to the company, the aircraft took off from the Irkutsk Aviation Plant’s runway. It flew at a speed of 600 km/h, reaching an altitude of 6,000 meters.

Pilot Roman Taskayev stated that the aircraft, assembled on the production line, performed excellently. The flight plan was entirely successful.

It is noteworthy that the MC-21 project began in 2009. However, due to sanctions, the project faced delays. Now, the aircraft is being built with parts manufactured in Russia.
