Lahore: (RightNow) Authorities have decided to check the criminal records of commercial vehicle drivers. In a meeting, Lahore’s CTO ordered the review of all public service and commercial drivers’ criminal records to prevent accidents.

SP Headquarters Fakhar Bashir has been tasked with identifying accident causes and prevention measures. Only 5% of commercial vehicles are registered in Lahore, yet they account for 48% of fatal accidents.

The CTO of Lahore stated that transport unions should not provide vehicles to drivers without character certificates. He emphasized that drivers involved in crimes or frequent accidents should be barred from driving.

It is clear that action will be taken against vehicle owners who give vehicles to irresponsible drivers. Drivers responsible for accidents and their facilitators will be held accountable.

It is noteworthy that a decision has also been made to verify all commercial drivers’ licenses. The CTO mentioned that strict monitoring has commenced to reduce accidents in Lahore.
