A new study links weight loss drugs to potential hair loss, highlighting the need for further medical research.
New York: (RightNow) A new study reveals that some popular weight loss drugs may increase the risk of hair loss. According to the research, individuals using GLP-1 group drugs have reported hair loss issues.
The study involved approximately 50,000 participants and examined drugs like Mounjaro, Ozempic, and Wegovy. Users of these medications have reported hair loss complaints to relevant authorities.
These drugs are primarily used for treating type 2 diabetes and obesity, helping to balance blood sugar levels.
Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania compared individuals using GLP-1 drugs with those using other diabetes medications to assess hair loss rates.
It is noteworthy that U.S. regulatory bodies have received hair loss complaints following the use of semaglutide and tirzepatide. Several complaints have also been filed in the UK regarding these drugs.
