Iran criticizes unilateral power use at SCO, highlighting multilateral cooperation’s importance.
Cholpon-Ata: (RightNow) Iran has expressed concern over unilateral policies and the illegal use of power at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Foreign Ministers’ meeting. Iran emphasized the necessity of multilateral cooperation in global affairs.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei stated on social media during the meeting that Iran values the SCO. He stressed that unilateral policies and violations of agreements are weakening international law.
Although Baghaei did not name any country, his past criticisms have targeted U.S. foreign policy. His statement is seen as part of the criticism of U.S. actions on global forums.
It is noteworthy that Iran became a member of the SCO in 2023. The organization, led by China and Russia, is a significant political and economic forum that includes Pakistan, India, and Iran.
The Foreign Ministers’ meeting is part of preparations for the organization’s upcoming summit. The next summit is expected to focus on regional security and economic cooperation.
