Lahore: (RightNow) The court has reserved its decision on journalist Rehan Tariq’s post-arrest bail application. Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Ali Siddiqui announced the decision, while anchorperson Rehan Tariq was represented by Advocate Mian Dawood in court.

Advocate Mian Dawood argued that the FIR does not prove any crime, as conducting an interview is not illegal. He stated that the NCCIA’s jurisdiction applies only when illegal content is uploaded, which is not the case here.

The NCCIA’s 6-day investigation did not reveal any evidence to substantiate the allegations against Rehan Tariq. Mian Dawood claimed that the NCCIA fabricated evidence against Rehan Tariq.

He remarked that associating genuine social media accounts with fake ones is regrettable and equates to intimidating national journalists.

It is noteworthy that the NCCIA opposed Rehan Tariq’s bail application, with SHO Najam Bajwa arguing that conducting the interview constituted a cognizable offense.
