Faisalabad: (RightNow) The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) conducted a raid uncovering biometric data of 6 lakh citizens. The arrested individual in Faisalabad possessed 195 mobile SIMs, 16 smartphones, and 81 ATM cards.

NCCIA revealed to the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Interior that the seized biometric data was being used for financial fraud.

The PTA Chairman stated that 18 million fake SIMs have been blocked, and telecom companies have been fined 4.5 billion rupees.

Chairman of the Standing Committee on Interior, Khurram Nawaz, warned of weekly scam calls under the guise of couriers and reported that WhatsApp has also been hacked.

It is noteworthy that a ‘Rent a Bank Account’ scheme operates in Pakistan, where individuals rent out their bank accounts for money, accepting jail time if caught.
