New York: (RightNow) Google, the most popular internet search engine, handles nearly 9 billion searches daily. On July 7, during a FIFA World Cup 2026 match, a new Google search record was set.

According to Google, the Round of 16 match between Argentina and Egypt saw the highest global searches. After Argentina’s decisive goal, Google recorded the most traffic in its history.

Nick Fox, head of Google Knowledge and Information, stated that the searches following Argentina’s goal broke a 28-year record. Although the company did not disclose exact numbers, it confirmed record searches per second.

It seemed as if the entire world was searching for the same thing at that moment. The FIFA World Cup concluded with Spain’s victory, defeating Argentina in the final.

It is noteworthy that Spain became champions for the second time in 16 years, defeating defending champions Argentina 1-0 in the final.
