Karachi: (RightNow) Pakistan’s cotton production has surged by 77% as of July 15, 2026, compared to last year. According to the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association, Sindh has seen a 114% increase, while Punjab’s production has risen by 39%.

Ehsan-ul-Haq, Chairman of the Cotton Ginners Forum, stated that 527,900 cotton bales have reached ginning factories nationwide by July 15. This is 230,149 more bales than last year.

The report indicates that Punjab’s ginning factories have received 201,500 bales, while Sindh has received 326,400 bales. Textile mills have purchased 444,379 bales.

The report highlights that Sindh’s cotton production is 38% higher than Punjab’s. It also mentions that a significant portion of cotton in Punjab’s ginning factories is sourced from Sindh.

It is noteworthy that due to the Gulf War, delays in cotton imports are expected, leading to price increases. However, the rise in local cotton production has caused a decrease in prices in domestic cotton markets.
