Lahore: (RightNow) The second spell of monsoon rains is expected to begin in Punjab from July 19. The PDMA has issued an alert for heavy rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds from July 19 to 23.
Urban flooding is a risk in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and Gujranwala. Flooding is predicted in Nala Lai, Murree, Galyat, and seasonal streams.
Relevant agencies and district administrations have been instructed to remain on high alert. Citizens are advised to avoid unnecessary travel and stay away from low-lying areas.
Monsoon rains are crucial for agriculture and water supply, but they increase the risk of urban flooding.
It is noteworthy that the PDMA has requested citizens to contact the helpline 1129 in case of emergencies.
