Iran has criticized U.S. tariffs as unfair, emphasizing its commitment to Hormuz security.
Tehran: (RightNow) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Iran has always been and will continue to be the guardian of the Strait of Hormuz. He emphasized Iran’s commitment to securing this region.
The Iranian Foreign Minister further mentioned that Iran will adopt a fair approach in collecting tolls at the Strait of Hormuz. He noted that these tolls will be used for maintaining peace and security in the area.
This statement came after U.S. President Donald Trump announced the re-imposition of a naval blockade against Iran, with a 20% tariff on shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
In response to Trump’s statement, Abbas Araghchi expressed on X that those who provide safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz deserve compensation.
It is noteworthy that Iran has deemed Trump’s 20% fee as unfair and stated that Iran will maintain a fair approach in charging for services at the Strait of Hormuz.
