Two athletes in the London Marathon set a new record by finishing under 2 hours for the first time.
London: (Right Now News) In the 46th London Marathon, two athletes made history by completing the marathon in under 2 hours for the first time. Kenya’s Sebastian Sawe set a world record by finishing in 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 30 seconds.
Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha completed the race in 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 41 seconds, securing second place. His performance also marked a new chapter in marathon history.
Officials stated that this achievement is a milestone in global marathon competitions. The performances of both athletes have created a sensation worldwide.
This new achievement is significant because previously, Kelvin Kiptum set a world record in 2023 by completing the marathon in 2 hours and 35 seconds. Sebastian Sawe and Yomif Kejelcha have broken this record.
It is noteworthy that in the past, Kipchoge completed the distance in an unofficial race in 1 hour, 59 minutes, and 40 seconds, which was highly regarded until now.
