Strait of Hormuz: (Right Now News) Greek shipping firm ‘Maersk’ has warned that unknown individuals are posing as Iranian officials to extort money from ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

These fraudsters are sending messages to shipping companies demanding transit fees in cryptocurrency. Maersk clarified that these messages are fraudulent and have no connection with Iranian authorities.

According to Maersk, this is an organized fraud exploiting regional tensions to loot shipping companies. A ship was even fired upon, falling victim to this deception.

Due to the Iran-U.S. conflict, hundreds of ships and twenty thousand sailors are stranded in the Gulf. Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz, halting maritime traffic.

It is important to note that the fraudsters are taking advantage of companies’ vulnerabilities by sending fake messages. Experts advise making decisions based only on official sources of information.
