Islamabad: (Right Now News) Iran has announced that it is maintaining continuous contact during negotiations in Islamabad for a ceasefire in Lebanon. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baqai stated that these contacts aim for the full implementation of an interim ceasefire.

He mentioned that after the Iranian delegation’s arrival in Islamabad, initial consultations with Pakistani officials took place. Iran’s demands and expectations were clearly presented during these meetings.

The spokesperson reported that contact with Pakistan’s political and military leadership continued on Saturday morning. Iran reiterated its stance, and the negotiation process is ongoing.

Ismail Baqai said Iran views the ceasefire as an end to attacks. There was a brief violation in the initial hours, to which Iran responded, but no further violations occurred.

It is noteworthy that a two-week ceasefire was agreed upon on April 8 under Pakistan’s mediation, paving the way for negotiations in Islamabad. Iran has expressed distrust towards the United States and sees the negotiations as a means to protect its interests.
