Lahore High Court mandates Punjab hospitals to replace paper slip system with modern technology within four weeks.
Lahore: (RightNow) Lahore High Court has ordered the termination of the traditional paper slip system in Punjab’s government hospitals within four weeks. This decision aims to provide immediate medical examination and treatment to patients.
The court emphasized that emergency and outpatient patients should not stand in long queues. A written order was issued on the Judicial Activism Panel’s request.
The case was heard under Justice Malik Javed Iqbal Wains, directing the Punjab Health Department to introduce a technology-based management system. This system will eliminate long queues at registration counters.
It is noteworthy that the court order regarding the lack of basic medical facilities in government hospitals has been under consideration since 2020. Despite court notices, no party has submitted an implementation report.
Special Secretary Health Nabeela Irfan assured the court that a modern patient management system will be introduced within four weeks. The court has ordered relevant authorities to submit implementation reports at the next hearing.
