Lahore: (RightNow) Lahore High Court has declared the recruitment criteria against PMDC’s set experience as illegal. The court ruled against the controversial advertisement for Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery positions.

The decision was issued by Justice Shireen Imran, involving 11 petitioners. According to the court’s decision, the recruitment process must comply with PMDC regulations.

The ruling stated that two years of clinical experience and two research papers in the relevant field are mandatory. Punjab government’s service rules cannot override federal law standards.

This decision is significant as PMDC regulations hold legal status under the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council Act 2022. The advertisement’s violation of standards was nullified.

It is noteworthy that the Health Department advertised for 8 positions on October 22, 2025, while PMDC’s new regulations were issued on February 27, 2025.
