Lahore High Court summons Home Secretary in the detention case of Imran Khan’s sisters, questioning the legality of their continued detention.
Lahore: (RightNow) The Lahore High Court has summoned the Home Secretary and Superintendent of Kot Lakhpat Jail in the detention case of Imran Khan’s three sisters. The petition for justice was filed by Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan’s son, Shahrez Khan.
The court has instructed the concerned authorities to appear on October 28 and present their reports. The lawyer informed the court that the detention period has ended, but the release has not occurred.
The court further stated that the detention orders expired on October 19 and 20. The court ordered the Home Secretary and Jail Superintendent to appear in person.
The petitioner’s lawyer argued that the women’s detention is illegal and violates their fundamental rights. He claimed the detention is linked to efforts for Imran Khan’s release.
It is noteworthy that Aleema Khan was detained on September 20, while Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi were detained on September 21. These arrests occurred before PTI’s planned march to Islamabad.
