Islamabad: (RightNow) Defense Minister Khawaja Asif states that the establishment of provinces or administrative units is a national issue that should face no opposition.

Speaking at the Parliament House, Khawaja Asif mentioned he lacks information on administrative units. He suggested that Islamabad could have an independent institution, possibly termed an assembly.

He added that he is unaware of any meeting by the Prime Minister on this matter. Proposals include Islamabad having its own assembly, chief executive, and 27 administrative departments.

Khawaja Asif noted that if this is happening federally, provinces might follow suit. He cited Afghanistan, where new provinces improved public services.

It is noteworthy that the Sindh government is taking a stance, which is their right. Khawaja Asif assured that no political party’s interests will be protected, and services will be provided at the grassroots level.
