Khawaja Asif supports the establishment of a provincial government in Islamabad to strengthen the federation.
Islamabad: (RightNow) Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif states that establishing a provincial government in Islamabad would be a positive step. This system is implemented in other capitals worldwide.
Khawaja Asif, speaking to the media at Parliament House, mentioned that if this system is implemented in Islamabad, it will facilitate its execution in other provinces. This move will strengthen the federation.
He noted that New Delhi also has a completely separate government and Afghanistan has 34 to 35 provinces. A rigid stance on provinces is not appropriate.
Khawaja Asif suggested that the term ‘new administrative units’ is more suitable than provinces. There has been no progress from the Muslim League N or the Prime Minister regarding new provinces.
It is noteworthy that Khawaja Asif emphasizes that transferring powers to the grassroots level is the right of the people and necessary for resolving public issues.
