Athens: (RightNow) An F-4 Phantom fighter jet crashed during an air show near Tanagra Air Base, Athens. Both pilots on board were killed in the incident.

The crash occurred during Athens Flying Week when the jet was participating in an aerial demonstration. The aircraft suddenly plummeted to the ground, causing panic among thousands of spectators at the airbase.

Immediately after the crash, clouds of black smoke were seen rising from the site. Two helicopters promptly arrived for rescue operations, and emergency personnel cordoned off the crash area.

Authorities stated that the aircraft was a two-seater Phantom F-4. Initially, there was no information on whether the pilots ejected, but later, both pilots’ deaths were confirmed.
