Islamabad: (RightNow) The process to appoint Pakistan’s new Foreign Secretary has commenced at the Prime Minister’s House.

Current Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch will retire on September 18 after reaching the age of 60. The chances of extending her tenure are slim. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif must select one of the senior diplomats in Grade 22 by September 18.

Senior diplomats under consideration include Rahim Hayat Qureshi, Asim Iftikhar, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, and Faisal Niaz Tirmizi. Authorities are actively reviewing these candidates.
