South Carolina: (RightNow) An American citizen is attempting to break the world record for the largest sock collection. He currently owns over 2,000 pairs of socks.

Retired firefighter Darryl Parker from North Augusta shared that his interest in collecting socks began with a Father’s Day gift. Subsequently, he received more socks as gifts on various occasions.

Darryl Parker mentioned that his wife pointed out the large number of socks he had accumulated. Encouraged by his grandchildren, he decided to attempt a Guinness World Record.

It is noteworthy that the current world record for the largest sock collection is held by former CBS Philadelphia news anchor Jim Donovan, who owns 1,531 unique pairs.

Darryl Parker plans to collect more socks by the end of the year and then submit verification to Guinness World Records.
