Bishkek: (RightNow) Pakistan has assumed the presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) for 2026-27. The announcement was made at a ceremony in Kyrgyzstan’s capital.

During the event, the declaration of the Council of Heads of State was signed. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif officially signed the declaration.

Upon Prime Minister’s arrival in Bishkek, the President of Kyrgyzstan warmly welcomed him. A handshake between the two leaders took place.

A group photo of the participating countries’ leaders was also taken. Shehbaz Sharif’s prominent presence among global leaders was noted.

It is important to note that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a significant regional alliance that plays a role in economic and political stability.
