The National Assembly has approved a resolution on the PIMS incident, demanding punishment for those responsible and the formation of a special committee.
Islamabad: (RightNow) The National Assembly has unanimously approved a resolution regarding the PIMS incident, demanding the identification and strict punishment of those responsible. Parliamentary Secretary Daniyal Chaudhry presented the resolution, which also calls for the formation of a special parliamentary committee.
Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that investigations are ongoing, and a report will soon be presented to the Prime Minister. He mentioned that a detailed report will be prepared within seven days, after which necessary actions will be taken.
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif announced a compensation of 5 million rupees for the affected families. He emphasized that compensation cannot replace the loss, but those responsible must be punished.
It should be noted that the Senate has also approved a motion for a committee to investigate the PIMS incident. PTI leader Ali Zafar expressed distrust in the government-formed committee.
Senator Saadia Abbasi had previously criticized the appointment of the Executive Director of PIMS, alleging that the ED is responsible for the incident and has not been removed from the position.
