Ishaq Dar highlights Afghan-based terrorism as a major challenge for Pakistan at the SCO meeting.
Bishkek: (RightNow) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar states that terrorism from Afghanistan has become a major security challenge for Pakistan. Banned groups TTP and BLA are active from Afghan soil.
At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting in Kyrgyzstan, Ishaq Dar remarked that the organization’s silver jubilee is a proud moment for all members. Kyrgyzstan hosted the meeting excellently.
He mentioned that SCO has become a comprehensive forum for economy, culture, and peace. The foundation of the Shanghai Spirit is mutual trust and shared development.
The Foreign Minister reported that over 2,000 terrorist attacks occurred this year, resulting in 560 Pakistani casualties. Afghan Taliban are providing a conducive environment for terrorists.
It is noteworthy that Ishaq Dar urged the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to pressure Afghan Taliban to fulfill their anti-terrorism commitments.
