Islamabad: (RightNow). Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has promoted Lt. Gen. Aamer Raza to the rank of four-star general, appointing him as the commander of the National Strategic Command. This decision was announced in a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Gen. Aamer Raza, expressing his best wishes for him. Gen. Aamer Raza was commissioned in 1988 and has served in various key positions.

Gen. Aamer Raza’s appointment comes at a significant time as the Pakistan Army recently won the International Peace Sticking Competition 2026 in the UK. This victory has enhanced Pakistan’s military significance on a global scale.

This position is considered crucial for the country’s strategic capabilities and national defense strategy. The appointment is made under the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

It is noteworthy that the 27th Constitutional Amendment introduced changes in the military chain of command, creating the post of Commander National Strategic Command to manage nuclear responsibilities.
