Kyiv: (RightNow) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Army Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi. President Zelensky has appointed Mykhailo Drapati as the new Commander-in-Chief.

The Ukrainian President praised Syrskyi’s military services following his dismissal. A few days ago, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov was also removed from his position.

Following the Defense Minister’s dismissal, public protests erupted nationwide. Reports suggest that rumors of disagreements led to the dismissal.

Oleksandr Syrskyi was considered a commander with Soviet-style thinking. Experienced General Mykhailo Drapati has been appointed as the new Army Chief.

It is noteworthy that Syrskyi played a crucial role in defending Kyiv during the Russian invasion in 2022. Zelensky has also offered Fedorov a new position in the government.
