Jakarta: (RightNow) An Indonesian court has sentenced Li Siew Luan to 7 years in prison for leading a child trafficking network. This verdict targets a major illegal child trafficking operation.

The court stated that Li Siew Luan was the ringleader and recruited several individuals for this operation. The prosecution had requested a 10-year sentence, but the court decided on 7 years.

Another defendant received a 6-year and 7-month sentence, while 5 women were sentenced to 3 years and 4 months each. All sentences were for involvement in child trafficking.

The court mentioned that the defendants could pursue legal avenues, including appeals. This legal decision is part of Indonesia’s ongoing efforts against child trafficking.
